New Ground Counselling
Counsellor in Bega
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and I completely understand — I’ve been there too. My approach is grounded in honesty and real connection. I view therapy as a co-creative process and I believe in sharing my own life experiences when it is helpful. I’m a Counsellor in Bega and provide telehealth sessions to the ACT Canberra and surrounds.
Do you find yourself stuck in familiar patterns or challenges, unsure how to move forward?
Together, we’ll explore these blocks using evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs. You’ll gain new perspectives and practical tools—and begin to notice meaningful, often unexpected shifts in your life.
I’m a counsellor in Bega. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I’m here to help you decide if we’re a good fit for working together.

My Therapeutic Tool Kit
Click the headings below to explore the different modalities and frameworks I use.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a compassionate and effective way to explore your inner world. It recognises that all parts of you—even those that feel difficult—are trying to protect or support you in some way. By turning toward these parts with curiosity and care, IFS helps reduce inner conflict and fosters greater self-understanding and peace.
Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal Theory offers a framework for understanding your nervous system and how it responds to stress. Together, we map your current patterns, identify triggers, and explore tools for emotional regulation. By noticing ‘glimmers’—moments of hope and safety—you can begin to create new, more adaptive responses.
Relational and developmental trauma can shape how your nervous system reacts, often repeating old patterns. With awareness and support, it’s possible to experience more authentic, safe connection—with yourself and with others.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It can be empowering to realise that core beliefs shaped by past experiences aren’t always true. With CBT, unhelpful thinking patterns can be reshaped, stories rewritten, and self-beliefs redefined—supporting greater clarity, courage, and confidence.
Somatic Therapies
Reconnecting Mind and Body
Somatic therapies are body-based approaches to healing that recognise the deep connection between your physical body, emotions, and nervous system. They’re grounded in the understanding that stress, trauma, and emotional pain are not just held in the mind, but also stored in the body.
By gently tuning into bodily sensations, movement, and breath, somatic work helps you become more aware of how your body responds to life’s challenges—and how those responses may be shaping your thoughts, behaviours, and relationships.
Compassionate or non violent communication
Compassionate or non violent communication is a therapeutic approach that supports clear, compassionate, and authentic expression—both with yourself and others. This framework offers powerful tools for exploring inner conflict, navigating relationship challenges, and building emotional awareness. By learning to identify feelings, recognise unmet needs, and express yourself with care, you begin to shift out of reactive patterns and into more connected, intentional responses.
Existential Therapy
Existential Therapy: Exploring Meaning, Choice and Authenticity
Existential therapy invites you to explore the deeper questions of life—identity, freedom, responsibility, meaning, and mortality. It’s a reflective, insight-oriented approach that helps you connect with what truly matters, especially during times of transition, uncertainty, or inner conflict.
It’s particularly helpful when you’re grappling with questions like “Who am I?”, “What is my purpose?”, or “How do I live with uncertainty or loss?”
Creative arts therapies
Creative arts therapies aren’t about making ‘good’ art—they’re about exploring experience in new ways, especially when words fall short. Through simple practices like doodling, free drawing, or collage, you can access fresh perspectives and connect with your inner world. This process offers a powerful, symbolic way to safely express and process emotion.
